Who runs MonkeyAss Records? MonkeyAss Records is run by Isaac "Campa" Irvine of the Happy Campers. It was started to put out a demo that Happy Campers made called "Crappy Pampers". What is the purpose of MonkeyAss Records? MonkeyAss is my way of having control over the music that is important to me. When and if Happy Campers moves up to a big label I will always have control over our first two releases. Meaning nobody else is gonna take credit or money from all the hard work we put in over the first 5 years of the band. Secondly, I want to put out music I like. That's where "We'll make a Monkey Outta You" comes in. I originally wanted to put out a vegas comp to try and help unify our scene here in Las Vegas. But only a handful of bands responded and so many bands start and break up soon after. I decided I want to put bands on the comp that have helped us along the way. Being an independent band is tough. It takes making friends in other towns and bands to make it into the touring scene. And that's where a lot of the band on the comp came from, bands we've been touring with or played shows with. I also thought it was important to make some new friends so I got some bands we haven't played with to be on the comp. Hopefuly this will expand our network of bands to tour with and trade shows with. If you own this comp then you'll know a song next time one of these bands comes to town, and it will make it that much more worthwhile to see them. What's in the future for MonkeyAss Records? I don't want to get myself in over my head. So I'm gonna take it slow. Putting out the comp was a hard enough task in itself. But I'm very proud of the work I've done and I plan to do more. It's hard to have the time to manage my band let alone others, so I want to wait until I feel I can make my band happy and whichever band I decide to take on. Eventually I want to put out more bands full length and maybe some splits. Why the Hell did you call your label MonkeyAss Records? Well it was just a joke when it started so I didn't really think it would go this far. But my bestfriends little brother Perry called me a monkeyass one day when we were playing some game I beat him at or something. I thought it was funny.
